Hey Everyone, it’s Jo here from the Miik team! I am currently writing this blog post 9 months pregnant and ready to bring my first little one into the world any day now. I now know firsthand the struggle of maternity clothing — how expensive and NOT cute they can be! It’s a little bit alarming how much one can spend on clothing they will really only need to wear for about 6-7 months in their pregnancy apparel journey. This is what I have absolutely loved about my Miik pieces — I’ve been able to wear many of them pre-pregnancy, during pregnancy and also hope to continue wearing them postpartum too! Since every Miik piece is so buttery soft and stretchy, they lend themselves really well to maternity without actually being true maternity clothing (or looking like most maternity clothing…phew!)
I wanted to do a little roundup of the top maternity pieces I would recommend for anyone who is looking for some “un” maternity clothing or clothing that works well for any changing body! I also want to preface that these are the products that worked well for me and my pregnancy, but I realize that every body is different during pregnancy and might need different things! I can only give recommendations based on my personal experience.
Please note that I am wearing my true size XS in all these images and recommendations — I feel that’s important to mention because I do intend to continue wearing these pieces postpartum, and I didn’t need to size up just to make the pieces work for my belly during pregnancy. So let’s get into some of my faves!

Here’s a reel Meron and I made together that features some of my top recommendations for maternity-friendly styles from this season’s Spring/Summer 2024 Collection:
Maternity-friendly dresses
Miik dresses were one of my favourite things to wear throughout my pregnancy because they’re a really easy one-and-done outfit that you don’t need to put much thought into, but also help you feel really put together. And feeling put together while pregnant is a win that I will gladly take any time! Here are my top recommendations for maternity-friendly dresses:
Jaaron reversible tank dress: I could wear this one all the way through pregnancy! If you’re going to be pregnant at all through Spring/Summer this dress is a no-brainer and worked great for me with both neckline options (scoop neck and boatneck).
Prisha reversible maxi dress: I am almost 9 months pregnant in the photo above, so this dress could also definitely be worn throughout your entire pregnancy! It’s the perfect maternity wedding guest dress! I found the high neck side felt more comfortable with the pleat detail to the back. However, I could definitely see myself wearing this lots postpartum with both neckline options as well!
Sofia dress: (could wear all the way through pregnancy!). For this one, we are pretty low on stock but planning a restock (as of April 2024), so make sure you sign up for those restock notifications! This casual everyday dress was fantastic for me and could definitely wear it throughout my entire pregnancy as well.
Maternity-friendly pants and skirts
Alara pocket swing skirt: It has a really stretchy waistband which makes it a great maternity skirt! I liked that it was adjustable so I could move it a bit higher on my bump for a more high-waisted look, and the skirt didn’t feel too short to do this! I’m wearing this skirt with the Lucia top in this photo which is also a great maternity-friendly shirt for work!
Keethai culotte: This would be a top recommendation from me for the best maternity pants! Because the fabric on this culotte is lightweight, it has even more stretch (less compression) than our other pants. These culottes could be worn for me throughout my entire pregnancy.
Reed high-waisted pant with pockets: Since this one doesn’t have an elasticized waistband, it was nice to pull right over my bump and wear high-waisted. The only thing I will note about these pants is that I wore them up until around 35 weeks pregnant (8 months) but found the heavyweight fabric to start to feel a bit too compressive around my belly at that point. I know some people like that feeling of compression and support during pregnancy, so this definitely comes down to personal preference! I also wanted to note that our pinstripe options in this pant do tend to have a bit more compression, so the solid black and navy options worked best for my pregnant body.
Christal pintuck dress pant: This is a pant that really surprised me as I didn’t think it would work for me. But I was wrong! Again, since the waistband is not elasticized and the pant are so stretchy, it really lends itself so well to pregnancy. It hits right around the belly button and I didn’t have any issues with them rolling down, which was another initial concern I had. Again, I wore these until around 35 weeks pregnant and then found that the waistband was a bit too compressive for my personal liking, but if you like a bit of support around the belly you might rock these right up until your due date!
Leland and Irelynn shorts: The waistband on the Leland and Irelynn shorts are based on our Christal pants, so these also work wonderfully for pregnancy and through the summer months. I wore these shorts with the Yasmina top in my reel with Meron at the top of this blog post. The perfect pregnancy shorts for the warmer weather!
A note on leggings: I definitely thought I would be rocking my Miik leggings for all of my maternity, but something I found is that since our leggings have an amazing smoothwear feature with a bit more compression than our other pieces, they weren’t the top thing I was reaching for. I have definitely been wearing all my other Miik pieces on repeat in comparison to the leggings! I wore my Miik leggings until around 5 months pregnant, and then started reaching for looser, less compressive styles as this was my personal preference!
Maternity-friendly tops
Adisa reversible slouchy dolman top: This top is what I am wearing in the maternity reel with Meron when we are wearing the Keethai culottes. This top’s slouchy fit was absolutely perfect for my bump, and paired with the comfy culottes it might have been my favourite outfit! While dresses seem easier during pregnancy, rocking an actual 2 piece outfit feels a bit out of reach at times, and I love how comfy and confident these pieces together made me feel.
Sutton v-neck classic tee: This top was another one I wasn’t sure would work, and boy was I wrong! I love how the curved hem worked perfectly over my bump. I’m currently 38 weeks pregnant and just wore my black Sutton tee when some friends came over for dinner, so there’s no doubt you can rock this top throughout pregnancy in your true size, no need to size up!
Lucia collared shirt: Because of the drapey relaxed fit of the Lucia shirt around the waist and hips, it works amazing for all kinds of changing bodies, including pregnancy! We also photographed this top on Donna’s niece, Adrianna, and it worked wonderfully on her too. A maternity-friendly collared shirt — who would have ever thought? Not me!
Amina reversible shelf-bra tank: I think this tank top is an absolute must for pre, during and post-pregnancy! Since it has the light support built in shelf-bra, I can already see myself doing tons of breastfeeding with this tank and having it be a staple style when I just don’t feel like wearing a bra. The Eline tank would be amazing for this as well!
Akari top: I love a ruched dressy top for maternity, and this top is another style that works amazing for pre, during and post-pregnancy! Check out this photo of me wearing my Akari at 7 months pregnant and the exact same top at just a few months pregnant back in September! Since everything from Miik is so soft and stretchy, these pieces really will work overtime in your maternity journey.
Maternity-friendly tunics
Sia tunic: I’m wearing this tunic in poppy red in the top reel with Meron, and I think that if you’re having a summer pregnancy, this piece would definitely be a staple! Its cocoon shape defines the bump but in a really cute way. Plus the fabric was nice and breathable and lightweight.
Zuri tunic + Alma tunic: I wore the Zuri tunic quite a bit throughout my pregnancy over the fall because of its aline silhouette and perfect pairing with comfy leggings. And now we have the spring/summer version of it - the Alma! You can’t go wrong with a flowy tunic for an easy, comfy maternity tunic.
Maternity-friendly cardigans and blazers
Rory waterfall cardigan + Wesley cropped cardigan: Our waterfall cardigans are no-brainers for maternity as they are super loose and flowy with no closures. Perfect for any body changes, weight fluctuations, or pregnancy!
Sade cardigan: The Sade has a more polished look which makes it the perfect piece for those who may work in a more corporate setting and are looking for more professional clothing to wear during pregnancy. Sade would be one of the top styles on my list as it curves beautifully at the bottom, has no closures at the front and would help elevate any tunic, top or dress for a more corporate environment.
Shaelyn jacket: I styled the Shaelyn jacket in multiple styles in this reel at 6.5 months pregnant, and I still love rocking this super cozy jacket today! I love how well this piece transitions into spring. I won’t be putting this into storage over the summer, it’ll be coming with me for family campfires and cottage weekends!
Sienna blazer: Since ALL our blazers are so soft and stretchy, they would all work well for maternity, but since the Sienna blazer has a bit of extra length to it, it’s my top choice! I love how adding a blazer to any outfit makes it feel more elevated and during pregnancy is no exception! Of course you wouldn’t be able to button it up the later you get into pregnancy, but this blazer works so well for both casual and corporate settings.
For anyone else who is on their pregnancy journey, I hope this blog was helpful! I wasn’t able to touch on all our products that would work for maternity but the ones above are all tried, tested and approved by me! Be sure to check out our full collection of maternity-friendly clothing.
