What is a capsule wardrobe and the 10x10 challenge?
A capsule wardrobe is about creating versatility in your closet with pieces that mix-and-match well with each other. The 10x10 challenge was invented by ethical fashion blogger and minimal wardrobe enthusiast, Lee Vosburgh. There are endless benefits to trying out the 10x10 challenge. Just a few include: helping you fall in love with your existing closet, creating new exciting outfits, doing more with less, finding a better sense of personal style, testing out a capsule closet, make packing for a trip infinitely easier, and identifying any foundation pieces that you might be currently missing.
Where do I start when it comes to creating a capsule wardrobe?
Every great capsule closet starts with high quality garments that can be washed and worn many many times, and styled many different ways. The small act of putting on an outfit you love every day is known to help boost self-esteem, confidence and productivity. But sometimes, it's the last thing you feel like doing 🤷♀️One of the biggest reasons for that is there's too many decisions to make in the day, and picking out a killer outfit probably isn't at the top of your list! One of the top reasons to have a capsule wardrobe is that it helps reduce decision fatigue. Not only will it save you a ton of time in the morning, it means you have one less decision to make at the beginning of the day, while also helping you to look and feel your best. Imagine having timeless, classic clothing that goes with pretty much everything else in your wardrobe, with countless ways to wear. It's a total game changer!

I want to participate in the 10x10 challenge!
The only things you need to get started in the challenge, are all pieces you ALREADY own. Head into your closet and select 10 styles that mix-and-match well with each other. Then join our Facebook group where we're hosting the 10x10 challenge! By posting a photo of your 10x10 outfit over 10 days, and participating in the challenge with us — you'll get a chance to win a $200 gift card from Miik. We'll show you 10+ outfit ideas for 10 days, with just 10 pieces of clothing. This challenge is all about fun and creativity, so don't stress too much about rules!
HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
1. Join our Facebook Group, or be following us @miikinc on Instagram.
2. Pick out 10 pieces from your closet. We chose: 2 tops, 2 bottoms, 1 skirt, a dress, leggings, a blazer, a cardi + pair of boots. Please note: NONE of your pieces have to be from Miik, it can be anything!

3. Post 1 of your outfits every day in our Facebook Group, or your Instagram stories* and tag @miikinc so we can see all your beautiful outfits and get your entries in for our $200 giveaway 🙌 Each time you tag us (up to 10 times) you will be entered to win!
*Please note: Your Instagram profile needs to be set to "public" for us to see your tagged photos. If you prefer to keep your profile private, join our Facebook Group and share your outfits there. We'll randomly choose a winner on January 20th. The winner will be contacted directly via social media.
We will be styling the following pieces:

Plus we added a great pair of timeless jeans and boots that aren't from Miik to make 10 pieces total! You don't need to include shoes or accessories, make the challenge work for you!
LET'S GET STARTED!
Enough with the talking! Here are our outfit ideas. To start off we styled the Susan button up shirt, and let me preface saying there's not a single shirt that is more versatile than this one.
1. Stylish meets casual 😎
For this first outfit we are wearing the Susan shirt unbuttoned and open almost like a cardigan (in natural) + Kerry turtleneck (in charcoal) + Silvie slouch pant (in black) with some black booties to finish off the look!
The secret here is to wear accessories. If you're even in a hurry and you don't know how to spice up an outfit, or you feel like you're being too repetitive, invest in some accessories. Wear edgy sunglasses, a cute necklace or earrings, or a scarf for colder weather!
For the second outfit we're also wearing the Susan, but here comes another way to style it.
2. Corporate meets comfy 💄
Here we have the button up shirt again, this time actually buttoned up and styled with our June skirt (in herringbone) with the Lisa2 leggings to add some warmth. If you don't like to accentuate your waist you could also just French tuck the shirt into the skirt and you're good to go!
3. Casual meets edgy 🤩
For the third outfit, 🥁 drumroll 🥁 we're styling the Susan shirt again! This time we unbuttoned the bottom 2 buttons and tied the shirt in a simple knot. It accentuates your natural waistline and completely changes up the look of the Susan. It's still hard to believe how many different ways you can style this top!

4. Working from home meets comfort 👩💻
For the fourth outfit, we're styling the Susan shirt under the Kerry turtleneck to create a cute layered look with a collared neckline. Again, pair it with your favourite bottoms and you're out the door (or working from home in style!)
We all love a turtleneck top, especially when it's as soft and stretchy as the Kerry. You can layer it over any collared shirt to create a completely different look. Truthfully, we didn't know if this outfit was going to work when we started the challenge, but we are absolutely thrilled with the result. That's the whole point of the 10x10 challenge — getting creative with your wardrobe so you can do more with less!
5. Workwear meets layered luxury 📝
Last but not least, we bring you the combo of the Susan shirt with the Haven dress. This is a more corporate outfit that's perfect for wearing to the office. Just layer the Susan under the dress and there you have it! You could also add tights to make this outfit more winter-friendly.
The Haven dress, one of our timeless classic dresses with pockets, is the perfect choice for our challenge. You can wear it more casually, dress it up with a blazer or layer it over a button up shirt. And of course I have to mention it has pockets...on both sides! However, for this look any long sleeve dress with a scoop or boat neckline would work.
For the 6th outfit we'll show you the option we mentioned above, the Haven dress with the Emily blazer.
6. Office wear meets comfy soft blazers 🤗
The Haven dress works beautifully with cardigans, blazers, or by itself! Any long sleeve dress can be styled in so many different ways, from casual to dressy — and ready for the office. As a bonus look, here's the dress with our long duster, which gives it a more edgy look vs corporate.
With our Emily blazer we'll show you a complete different look, with the Silvie pant and turtleneck for a super comfy work from home outfit.
7. Corporate on top, comfy on the bottom (they'll never know!) 👩💻
These super comfy pants paired with a stretchy turtleneck and a super soft blazer will be your go-to combination for zoom calls at home. Better yet, you'll still be able to rock this look in the office, because our Silvie slouch pant has the polished look of an elevated jogger. You'll look super put together and feel like a boss in this outfit! Another way to wear this blazer is with our June skirt and belt. Another great comfy, work from home outfit that will transition into office wear as well!
Now we are going to take the Emily blazer and dress it down a notch. Think casual Friday outfit, but still looking so fab.
8. Business casual for the win 💃
The Emily blazer looks amazing with jeans and creates a more casual look. It also makes a fabulous spring or fall jacket! You could leave the blazer open to make it even more casual, and it could be a great option to go to the movies, a date, or a happy hour after work (whether virtual or IRL).
9. Casual meets cute 😚
We love this outfit for an elevated weekend look. We have paired the Joey duster with the Kerry turtleneck top and your go-to pair of jeans. This outfit could literally work for any occasion, it could be to work from home, run errands, out with friends for dinner...you get the point! 😄
10. Edgy meets everyday wear 🙆♀️
This could easily be your lounging at home OR running errands outfit — but we love how it still looks so put together. Comfy doesn't have to mean frumpy! Your fave pair of comfy pants, a nice leather boot, your tried and true turtleneck and your long cardigan or duster to give it some spice and make the outfit edgier.
